Goa — Beaches, Churches and Susegad
Goa is two states in one: the busy northern strip from Candolim to Morjim with its beach shacks, markets and nightlife, and the quieter south — Palolem, Agonda, Cavelossim — where the sand is wider and the evenings are early. In between sit Old Goa's UNESCO-listed basilicas, the Portuguese-era Latin Quarter of Panjim and the spice plantations and waterfalls of the Western Ghats.

North Goa Beaches
Calangute and Baga for water sports and crowds, Candolim for a calmer stretch, Anjuna for the Wednesday flea market and cliff cafés, Vagator and Morjim for sunsets and quieter sand. Chapora Fort above Vagator is the classic viewpoint.
South Goa Beaches
Palolem's palm-fringed crescent, Agonda's turtle nesting beach, Colva and Benaulim for long empty walks, and Butterfly Beach reachable only by boat. Slower, greener and better for families and couples.
Old Goa Churches
The Basilica of Bom Jesus, holding the relics of St Francis Xavier, and Sé Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia, together with the Church of St Cajetan — a UNESCO World Heritage ensemble half an hour from Panjim.
Dudhsagar Falls
A 310-metre four-tier waterfall on the Mandovi in Bhagwan Mahavir sanctuary, reached by a jeep safari from Kulem. Best from October to February when the flow is strong and the trail is open.
Fontainhas and Panjim
The Latin Quarter's ochre and indigo houses, azulejo tiles and narrow lanes, plus the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and a Mandovi river sunset cruise.
Forts and Spice Farms
Aguada, Reis Magos and Chapora for Portuguese-era coastal defence, and the Sahakari or Tropical spice plantations inland for a guided walk and a traditional Goan lunch on banana leaf.
Best time to visit
Peak season · November – February
Dry, warm days and cool evenings, all shacks open, and Christmas–New Year at its busiest and most expensive.
Shoulder · October, March – May
Hot and increasingly humid towards May, but rates drop and beaches are far emptier.
Monsoon · June – September
Green, dramatic and cheap. Many shacks close and water sports are suspended, but waterfalls and countryside are at their best.
How to reach
- By air
- Manohar International Airport (GOX) at Mopa in the north and Dabolim (GOI) in the south, both with wide domestic and some international connectivity.
- By rail
- Madgaon (MAO) and Thivim (THVM) on the Konkan Railway, with direct trains from Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru.
- By road
- NH-66 along the coast. Within Goa, we provide private cars with drivers; scooter rental is common but licences and helmets are checked.
Travel tips
- Choose your coast deliberately — north and south Goa are 60–90 minutes apart and have very different atmospheres.
- Beach shacks are seasonal; from June to September most of the north Goa strip shuts.
- Drinking and driving is heavily policed, and public alcohol consumption on beaches is prohibited.
- For Dudhsagar, jeep safari permits are limited daily — book the previous day.

North Goa or South Goa?
North for nightlife, markets and water sports; south for quiet beaches, resorts and honeymoons. Many of our packages split nights between both.
How many days for Goa?
Four nights is the sweet spot; five to six if you want both coasts plus Dudhsagar and a heritage day.
Is Goa good in the monsoon?
For landscapes, waterfalls and low prices, yes. For beach time and water sports, no.
