Day 1 — Bagdogra Airport / NJP — Phuentsholing

Meet and greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra (IXB) Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing, the gateway of Bhutan by road from India — a thriving commercial town on the northern edge of the Indian plains. Distance 170 km / driving time approx. 5 hours / altitude 293 m. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight at Phuentsholing.

Day 2 — Phuentsholing to Thimphu

After breakfast drive to Thimphu via the mystic hill town of Gedu (about 9,000 ft) and Chukha Dam. En route visit Kharbandi Gompha and Wangkha waterfalls, and halt at Chuzom to photograph the confluence of the Thimphu Chhu and Paro Chhu. Reach Thimphu by afternoon and check in. In the evening visit Tashichho Dzong — the Fortress of the Glorious Religion — on the west bank of the Wang Chhu, coronation site of the fifth King and host to the annual Tsechu festival. Distance 176 km / 6 hours / altitude 2,350 m. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 3 — Day excursion to Punakha via Dochula Pass

Depart Thimphu for Punakha, stopping at Dochula Pass for panoramic Himalayan views and the 108 Druk Wangyal chortens. Visit Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu, the Punakha suspension bridge draped in prayer flags, and Chimi Lhakhang — the fertility temple of Lama Drukpa Kuenley, reached on a short walk through paddy fields. Return to Thimphu in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the Thimphu hotel.

Day 4 — Thimphu sightseeing & transfer to Paro

After breakfast, a full round of Thimphu: Kuenselphodrang (Buddha Dordenma), National Memorial Chorten, the Royal Textile Museum, Takin Reserve Centre, Sangaygang view point, Simply Bhutan, Changangkha Monastery and Tashichho Dzong. Post lunch transfer to Paro. Dinner and overnight at the Paro hotel.

Day 5 — Tiger's Nest hike

After an early breakfast, begin the excursion to Taktsang Palphug Monastery — the Tiger's Nest — clinging to a cliff above the upper Paro valley. Built in 1692, it marks the cave where Guru Padmasambhava is believed to have meditated for three years. A traditional hot stone bath can be arranged on direct payment basis — local herbs are said to relieve joint pain, hypertension and stomach ailments. Evening stroll through Paro market. Overnight in Paro.

Day 6 — Paro to Phuentsholing via Chele La Pass

After breakfast drive to Chele La Pass (3,998 m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, with views of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m) and the surrounding snow ranges on a clear day. The winding drive through green valleys is one of the finest in the country. Post lunch continue to Phuentsholing, check in and overnight.

Day 7 — Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport / NJP drop

After breakfast check out and take the departure transfer to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey. Tour ends — but sweet memories always remain.
