Trip overview
Our most-booked Bhutan itinerary. It gives each valley the time it deserves — two nights in Thimphu, a river-side stay in Punakha, and three nights in Paro so the Tiger's Nest hike never feels rushed.

Day-wise routine
Day 1 — Arrival at Phuentsholing
Border transfer, permit processing and an evening walk through the Indo-Bhutan gate area. Overnight Phuentsholing.
Day 2 — Drive to Thimphu
Six scenic hours through Gedu and Chukha. Afternoon arrival, Buddha Dordenma at sunset and dinner of ema datshi in town.
Day 3 — Thimphu full day
Tashichho Dzong, the National Library, the Institute of Zorig Chusum art school, the Takin preserve, Simply Bhutan museum and the weekend farmers' market if timings match.
Day 4 — Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula (77 km)
Cross Dochula Pass at 3,100 m for a Himalayan panorama, then descend to warm Punakha. Walk to Chimi Lhakhang through mustard fields and visit Punakha Dzong, Bhutan's most beautiful fortress.
Day 5 — Punakha to Paro
Morning at the Punakha suspension bridge and Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten hike, then drive to Paro. Evening riverside stroll.
Day 6 — Tiger's Nest and Paro valley
The Taktsang hike in the cool morning, followed by Kyichu Lhakhang, Rinpung Dzong and last-minute shopping for handwoven kira and yathra.
Day 7 — Departure
Drive down to Phuentsholing, exit formalities and drop at Bagdogra / NJP / Hasimara.
