Day-wise routine
Day 1 — Phuentsholing arrival
Permits and overnight at the border.
Day 2 — To Thimphu
Long climb to the capital; evening at Buddha Dordenma.
Day 3 — Thimphu sightseeing
Dzong, museums, art school and takin preserve.
Day 4 — Thimphu to Punakha
Dochula Pass, Chimi Lhakhang and Punakha Dzong.
Day 5 — Punakha to Phobjikha
Drive into the glacial Gangtey valley; Gangtey Goenpa and the Gangtey Nature Trail.
Day 6 — Phobjikha to Trongsa
Cross Pele La at 3,420 m, stop at Chendebji Chorten, arrive Trongsa for the dzong and museum.
Day 7 — Trongsa to Bumthang
Over Yotong La into Chumey valley; yathra weaving centre and arrival at Jakar.
Day 8 — Bumthang valleys
Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Goemba, Mebar Tsho burning lake and the Red Panda brewery.
Day 9 — Bumthang to Punakha / Wangdue
Long return drive with photo halts across the passes.
Day 10 — To Paro and Tiger's Nest
Morning transfer to Paro, afternoon Kyichu Lhakhang, next-morning Taktsang hike.
Day 11 — Departure
Drive to Phuentsholing and onward transfer.
